Completed Projects

TACON has successfully completed numerous projects across various sectors. Our case studies showcase the diversity and quality of our work, highlighting our ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.

Building Construction

The company has been privileged to engage in a number of high-rise, multi-purpose, commercial, office, functional, etc. buildings as well as complex residential units across the country.

The opportunity to specialize in building projects of all facets such as universities, hospitals, financial institutions, apartments, government offices, business centers and others resulted in the company’s recognition as a leader in high-rise buildings.

TACON successfully delivers hundreds of building projects in all regional states of the country while the Berbera Airport Terminal forms part of its across-border portfolio.

The acquisition of YBEL Industrial P.L.C. that provides innovative and sustainable solutions through fabrication and construction of modular and Pre-Engineered Building (PEB) systems, makes TACON and its strategic partner the first Ethiopian private and independent designer, producer and class 1 contractor of factory made buildings.

TACON and YBEL Industrial are integrated to design, manufacture and erect Pre Engineered Building (PEB) made of Light Gauge Steel (LGS) frame, modular structures, panelized structures, Magnesium Board (MgO), agro-stone or FGC panel while PVC Doors and Windows Systems, and EGA Sheet Roofing that suit any buildings and facilities of any size.

Integral to the successful implementation of building projects is the capacity to manage the overall project.

Design and Build or turnkey management approach brings the management of the entire project under one design and construction firm so that the client is, in essence, handed the keys at the end. To this end, the company develops a sustainable growth strategy that comprises of providing unique construction service offerings, expanding into new infrastructure development services and geographic areas, further specializing in high-rise building and industrial plants while maintaining performance and competitiveness of existing businesses.

Developing and maintaining solid partnership with clients and partners, attracting and retaining qualified and experienced workforce, continuously upgrading project management and office administration practices, reengineering internal processes etc. are also among the principal elements of the company’s strategy.

Industrial Plants

Additional segment that TACON successfully engages in is the construction of industrial plants designed to manufacture a nutritional supplement, consumer goods, vehicle assembly and soil fertilizer for instance. Yayo Fertilizer Factory is one of the multicomplex and mega industrial projects planned to be implemented during the on-going Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP) period of the government. The factory comprises two Urea and one DAP fertilizer manufacturing plants, a coal mining plant and a chemical factory.

The industrial complex lies on 540,000 square meters plot and its first phase manufacturing plant will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 tons of Urea, 250,000 tons of DAP fertilizer, 20,000 tons of ethanol that also generates 90 megawatt of electric power annually and will use 9.2 million tons of coal per annum.

The total project cost is estimated at 18 billion ETB, whose half portion is contracted to TACON that so far undertakes 80% of the civil works. Having the highest complexity ever in the nation, the factory has the latest and state of the art technology in its construction as well as production stage that is anticipated to create job opportunities for 35,000 individuals.

Surface Infrastructure

Given its innovative construction methodology and expertise in different types of construction services, TACON is on the verge of sustaining its leadership position in the regional infrastructure development arena.

The improvement of the Berbera International Airport was part of the international community’s initiative to enhance the neighboring Republic of Somaliland’s physical infrastructure whose contractor selection called for deploying an International Competitive Bidding (ICB) procurement procedure. TACON was able to be selected demonstrating excellence in meeting the stringent expectations of both the government and the financing institutes outperforming transnational contractors as well.

The opportunity to enter into a works contract with the Ministry of Civil Aviation and Air Transport helps TACON to realize its ambition of engaging in a transcendent project whose performance level also inspired the President of Puntland to pay an official visit to the company’s headquarter and different facilities.

Awarded by the Ethiopian Roads Authority (ERA), TACON is proud to be undertaking the design and construction of five vital asphalt concrete roads across Ethiopia. These projects span four regions: Oromia, Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples (SNNP), and Tigray. The specific roads TACON will be building include the Maychew-Mohone road, the Abomsa-Aseko road, the Chelelek-Dibu River road, the Bishan Gurancha road, and the Robe-Seru road. The Omo River Bridge is also one of TACON’s undertakings.

In Addis Ababa, the company also currently undertakes the construction of Kotebe College – Kara asphalt road project, which includes building one of the longest wide span bridges here in the metropolis.

Recreational Facilities

The unique pro-entertainment attitude of the leadership of TACON including attention given to sports and recreational activities remains one of the motives to undertake a number of stadiums and buildings that host amusement facilities.

While the Tigray National Stadium that comfortably accommodates more than 55,000 spectators, the Mekelle University Stadium is capable of hosting 35,000 individuals.

TACON’s proven expertise has impressed the Government of Guinea, securing a prestigious design-build project valued at €340 million. This ambitious undertaking encompasses the construction of two state-of-the-art stadiums: the 50,000-seat Ansoumanya Stadium and the 15,000-seat Labe Stadium.

Additionally, the project includes the development of a dozen training fields complete with dedicated villages for footballers. Furthermore, TACON is currently undertaking the renovation of the General Lansana Conte Stadium in Conakry.

Besides taking advantage of the opportunities to construct the recreational facilities, the commitment of TACON to promote sports activities best reflected in partly funding the stadium projects earmarking an enormous sum from the company’s profits. This is one of the behavior of TACON that is rarely exhibited in conventional construction contractors.

Water and Pipe Foundation Works

TACON is also positioned to undertake water supply systems including hydropower and irrigation dams, pipe supported furrow irrigation, distribution systems and allied tunneling components.

As to the foundation technology, the delivery of customized cost effective solutions for the foundation structures is factored in TACON and other projects in need of specialist excavation, drilling and piling services.

The sub-contracting services mainly provided by this market segment include but not limited to explanatory drilling, soil reports, foundation design and engineering, subsoil consolidation, wick drains, bored and driven piles using drilling and piling rigs and water wells.
